BMR Rear Control Arms with urethane bushings
by Jordon Musser
Overview
The stock rear control arms are simply a U channel with holes in each end for a
very soft bushing. This promotes inconstant handling, and makes the rear end hop
sideways over bumps while cornering. Although there are many brands of after-market
control arms, I have chosen BMR because of there quality construction(boxed), price and
the included urethane bushings. These control arms can be purchased direct from BMR for $125.
Installation
This is very straight forward. The included directions are excellent, just
follow them and you will have no problems.
On the Street
The car was very, very much more stable around corners. At normal speed,
the rear end felt just a little stiffer, but a higher speed you could feel that the rear
of the car felt a lot more locked in.
At the Track
Strip: I was able to keep my 60fts with in a two hundredths on almost every
run... that is good for a 5-speed!
AutoX: The car had a more positive turn-in, with a more predictable trail braked induced over steer. On power over steer was also very controllable. I found that letting the car over steer was the easiest way to get around the tight AutoX course.
Conclusion
I highly recommend this mod, as it makes the car more stable, at a decent price.
Give BMR a call, you won't be disappointed!!
