Russell Valve Cover Breather
by Jordon Musser

Overview
The reason for using a valve cover breather is to help reduce internal pressure which intern can help prevent the infamous LT1 intake oil leak.  The Russell breather is a trick piece, and can be purchase from Internet Racers Supply for less than $15.  On top of the breather, you will need a small screw(I used a 4-40 button head allen screw) and a piece of hose that has the ID of the breather, and the OD of your oil-filler spout

Installation
The first thing you need to do is drill a hole in the middle of the breather, through the red/blue lid into the plastic center.. and screw the "lid" to the plastic center piece.  This will keep the aluminum breather cap from falling off. See picture.  Next you need to do is to remove your oil fill "spout" by unscrewing it from the valve cover.  After it is removed, cut it in aprox. half with a hack saw or similar.  Next cut the piece of use you bought to about 1in long, this will be pushed over the breather, and then installed with the breather into the filler spout to make sure it seals well.  Ok, time for installing the breather.  screw the spout back on, then press the breather with the rubber spacer into the spout.. You are done.
